Enthronement of the Sacred Heart is a solemn act of a family
whereby it gives formal recognition to the Kingship of Christ and invites Him to rule over their family and their home.
The second promise of Jesus to those who Honor
His Most Sacred Heart is: "I will establish peace in their families." The third promise is: "I
will bless every house in which a picture of My Heart shall be exposed and honored."
The Enthronement ceremony consists of a number of prayers
and a picture or statue depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus being set up in a prominent place in the home.
If a priest will be present, he should bless the house before the ceremony begins.
Other preparations may include:
The family attending Mass and receiving the Holy Eucharist
on the day of the ceremony.
The image of the Sacred Heart, whether it is a framed picture
or a statue, being blessed by the priest.
The place of the Enthronement, whether a wall, table or mantle,
having been prepared.
If the area around the image will be decorated with flowers,
plants or candles, they should in place.
Holy water should be placed nearby. If candles will
be lit, matches or a lighter should be placed close to the candles.
The Enthronement ceremony should be conducted by the
priest if one is present. If a priest will not be attending, the father of the family should lead the ceremony.
In the absence of the father, the head of the household may lead the ceremony.
When all preparations have been made and it is time for the
ceremony to begin, the family should be seated close to where the image will be placed and the leader can begin the prayers.
